We had a fun ward Christmas Party. I thought Steven would be ok with Santa, because he got a candy cane....but I guess not.

Happy Holidays

As the year comes to a close, we have an opportunity to look back at the wonderful blessings we’ve been given during this past year. Here is a quick look into what we’ve been up to during 2010.
Jacob returned to college to receive two masters in Mechanical Engineering and Business. He has finished his first official semester at BYU, however, his research was started in May. We are excited as Jacob was asked to be on a research project that will help those in need in developing countries. His own thesis is developing a method to produce products that are collaborative, or in other words taking many common products and putting them together to create a new product. Jacob has also taken advantage of his dad’s shop with his wood working projects; such as building a shoe rack for the bottom of our bookcase. It looks like it came that way, AND it helps the clutter in our living room.
Cassanda is adjusting to living in the “big” city of Provo, learning to drive comfortably in 3 or 4 lane traffic. She enjoys staying home and taking care of the adorable Steven while creating a home for our new son, coming January 30th. Cassanda loves learning to become more domestic by trying some new recipes and attempting to be a better seamstress. It’s a work in progress for sure. She's very excited to welcome a new little boy into their house and can't wait for he and Steven to become best friends.
Steven is now our big boy. He had his first birthday in August and learned to walk shortly after. Currently his favorite past times are eating, reading, finding new places to explore and new items to play with. He also is all boy, loving to yell and figures that everything should be pounded into something else. He loves to talk, although the majority of it still sounds like German to us. Our favorite words he says includes: hi, more, eye, and of course mama and dada. We love having Steven in our home and this new stage of his life.
We love you all and hope you all have a wonderful new year!

Pure Contentment
You know those moments when everything feels right in the world. The ones where you wish you could just stop time and go on like that forever? I had one of those on Friday. We went to Idaho for Thanksgiving, and had a marvelous time. Since my parents left Friday morning to attending my brother blessing his baby in Arizona, we decided we’d leave then as well and go through Logan and see if we could find some good buys at the D.I.s along the way. I don’t know how many of you have been to South-East Idaho, but I think it’s gorgeous. There is something about the miles of farmland and the mountains in the distant and up close, that really gets to me. I think it always will.
Anyway it's about 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning and we are on the road between Soda Springs and Preston. There are a couple of really small towns and some houses scattered here and there, but other than that it's just the wonderful scenery. It had just snowed and there isn't a lot of cars on the road, so I just take my sweet time driving, not really caring how fast I'm going. In the car I can hear Steven talking softly to himself, a sound I love. I'm talking to Jacob and we're listening to Christmas music.
I honestly felt so blessed at that moment. I was in a place that to me is close to heaven, with my wonderful husband who is honestly my best friend and LOVE of my life. We had our adorable son in the back seat, being completely adorable, and we have another blessing waiting to join our family. There is no one around, nothing existed, except everyone packed into that little car.
It was a moment I wish I could freeze and live in forever.

The difference in 4 days
4 days later, today, Steven and I went for a walk in the morning. The leaves were still gorgeous, but it was SO much colder. Last week we bought Steven a warm hat and mittens from Target and I'm thrilled he kept them on the whole walk...it was cold! But he did look so cute, and well let's face I REALLY need the exercise.

Halloween Weekend
We had a great weekend of friends, family, and food. It started on Friday night when we went to a party with some friends from Salt Lake, we hadn't seen them since we moved so it was a lot of fun. Saturday Jacob had to work all day, but we were able to spend the night with his family. We had the traditional chili, root beer, and pumpkin pie, then went trick-or-treating around Jacob's old neighborhood. Steven didn't really understand it, but he had a great time looking at all the pumpkins and fun decorations. Unfortunately after a fun night of trick-or-treating, Steven had a hard face plant and got his first bloody nose and lip. Luckily suckers have a great way of making everything better.
