Sisters Weekend

Once or twice a year all my sisters get together for a little sisters weekend where we eat lots of yummy food, watch chick flicks, shop, and just enjoy each other. We had dinner on Friday night and watched a chick flick of course with lots of yummy snacks. It's always so fun to just talk, giggle, and be girls together. This year my mom came as well, which was a lot of fun. Saturday morning we got up early and did a 5k! Dorene was the brain of the whole thing, but unfortunately her husband's grandfather passed away so she wasn't able to do it with us. (Though she did pose for a picture with us before she left in the morning) We'll be doing more in the future though for sure! We of course walked, I'm in no condition to run! It was really fun to just stroll along and talk. Then Saturday night we traveled down to the General Relief Society meeting at the conference center. It was my first time being there for the Relief Society meeting, and I loved it! Especially being able to be there with my sisters and mom; it was a very neat experience. I love my family and am so glad that we are all so close and enjoy spending time with each other; I love you guys!

Funny Kids

On Sundays we teach the Sunbeams at church; seven 3 or 4 year olds can be quite interesting sometimes. We have one little girl who is very smart and knows the answer you want from her, but will often say the opposite thing. So during sharing time a sister was talking about Jesus Christ and asked if He loved each of them. This little girl yelled out, "No!" I'm sure just trying to get attention, but the two little girls next to her began saying very insistently that she was wrong. "Yes He does!" "He does too love us." It really made my day to hear these little girls stand up for what they knew was right, and couldn't bear to hear that their Savior does not love them. I hope my children will have that same conviction.

Speaking of Steven, yesterday after FHE we were all sitting on the couch talking. Steven found Jacob's wallet half out of his pocket and thought it looked like a fun toy. He started pulling out the money that Jacob had in there, 4 one dollar bills. Steven was trying to hold them all in his hands, but Jacob kept taking the ones that had dropped or were loose in his hands. Steven would then swipe them back and this continued for many minutes until Steven got a little smarter. Instead of trusting his own hands to keep the money, he handed them to mom thinking they'd be safe if mom had them. Smart boy. It really made me laugh.

And to end this post I thought I'd add some pictures of Steven.

Boy, Girl or Boy, Boy?

Jacob and I have been debating for quite some time whether this baby would be a girl or boy. So in my family all my siblings have had one of each for their first two. So in our case this next baby would be a girl. Jacob on the other hand has said that from his grandparents down if you have a boy first, you have a boy second. (Also, in his siblings all the second children are boys). So it was a fight between the traditions. On the way to the ultrasound Jacob was confident it's a girl; he said he wanted it to be a boy, but knew it was a girl. Was he right?

NO! It's a BOY!

And I couldn't be more thrilled. Of course I'd love a little girl to dress in the cute headbands and adorable dresses. But once we saw our little boy, love struck me. I loved every movement he made. At first he was very cooperative and let us see into his heart and brain, but when it came to profile or his little hands and feet, well he was just sick of being good. He squirmed and dove around. I loved it, I loved seeing his own little personality. The ultrasound tech guessed that he would be a 9 pounder, he's quite beefy. He also commented on his big nose, both of these wonderful traits I'm sure he got from me. And my favorite part of all was when he started to suck his thumb for a picture. I mean really how adorable is that? Now, I know I'll have my hands full with two little boys so close together, but I know they'll be the best of friends.
I honestly can say that I'm already in love with this adorable little baby!
(I'll post it when I get around to scanning in the pictures)

This and That

I really just want to show some pictures, so here you go.

To me summer isn't summer until there's roasted hot dogs, smores, so on labor day we finally decided to have some right in our apartment. We grilled the hot dogs on the George Foreman and then roasted marshmallows over the stove. We brought out our camp chairs and had a great time.

Look at this handsome boy, doesn't he look ready for fall? Which can I say I'm so excited about! I love everything about fall: the cooler weather, the leaves changing, the holidays coming up, and really the feeling of first day of school. You know it, you love it. I'm doing all I can to not decorate our house for a couple of more weeks...or maybe a week. Have I mentioned how well this boy is walking? It surprises me every time I see him walking around the corner. It's cute. He still falls quite a bit, but he's getting the hang of it.

4 days...until we get to see our little baby and know if it's a boy or girl. SO EXCITED! Enough said. I also got my haircut as you can see. I've had some bad haircuts in the past and finally had enough of it, so I cut it short enough to start anew. I love it! It looks cute curly and straight, easy to do, and is still long enough I can manage some short ponytails.
